Privacy Policy

The Biped Robot Association (“the Association”) has established a privacy policy as follows with respect to the handling of information, including the personal information of people inquiring with the Association through the Inquiries page on this website, people registering as competitors on this website, and people registering to participate in events administered by the Association (“users”).

1. Information collected

When making inquiries with the Association, users are asked to provide the following information.

Depending on the inquiry content, users may be asked for information other than the above in order for the Association to respond to the inquiry.

Users are asked to provide the following personal information when completing competitor registration.

Name of representative
Name of representative (furigana)

2. Uses

Email addresses and other personal information received through inquires are used only to conduct communications related to the inquiry. The information is not used for any other purpose. Inquiry content may be included in the Q&A section or other sections of the Association’s website in a way that maintains the users anonymity.

The personal information of users who have registered as competitors is used to administer events held by the Association. An email newsletter is also sent out only to users who have agreed to receiving it. However, email with content judged to be important by the Association may be sent out to users whether or not they have agreed to receive the newsletter.

3. Third-party provision

The Association does not provide personal information to third parties without the prior consent of the user except in cases for which disclosure is recognized based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other laws and regulations. However, this does not apply in the following cases.

Provision of name, address and phone number to a delivery company, etc. when it is necessary to send a package, etc.
When personal information is provided in connection with a business transfer due to merger or other circumstances
When it is necessary to cooperate with legally stipulated actions being conducted by a government institution, local public body or contracted organization and obtaining the consent of users would potentially hinder execution of that action
When otherwise recognized under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations

4. Disclosure of personal information

When a user requests disclosure of personal information under the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Association confirms that it is the request of the user involved and then discloses the information to the user without delay. (If there is no personal information for that user, this is conveyed.) However, this provision does not apply if the Association does not bear an obligation to disclose the information pursuant to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations. With regard to the disclosure of personal information, document mailing charges are received in advance, so your understanding is appreciated.

5. Correction and suspension of use, etc. of personal information

When a user requests correction of personal information under the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information because the information is not factually accurate, or when a user requests suspension of its use under the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information because it is being handled beyond the scope of uses disclosed in advance or because it was collected using deceptive or otherwise improper means, the Association confirms that it is the request of the user involved, performs any necessary investigations and then informs of the user of that fact. However, this does not apply if the Association does not bear an obligation to correct, etc. the information or suspend use, etc. of the information pursuant to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information or other laws and regulations.

7. Procedures for changing the Privacy Policy

The Association shall appropriately review operations related to the handling of personal information and make continual improvements, and it may, as necessary, make changes to this policy. When the policy is changed, an announcement is made on this website. However, if changing provisions for which the law requires the consent of users, the consent of users shall be obtained through the method specified by the Association.
